The Impact Of Naturopathic And Yogic Lifestyle Modifications On Varicose Veins After 10 Days

April 9, 2026

Personalised Diagnosis

A female patient, aged 56 years, came to Prakriti Shakti with complaints of a weak gut, an increase of heat in the body, mild pain in the neck and lower back, mild congestion in the nasal area after waking up, and varicose veins.

Naturopathy Treatment

At Prakriti Shakti, she underwent a constructive diet for 8 days and a soothing diet for 2 days. At the same time, she received other naturopathy treatments including massages, water therapies, mud therapies, sun bath, reflexology walk and 3 hours of yoga, which included asanas, pranayamas, mudras, bandhas, and meditation, in a well scheduled daily routine. Shaman yoga was also prescribed to decrease her neck and back pain.

Observed Outcome

There was a significant improvement in the varicose veins in the legs. The appearance of veins was reduced to an extent. Pain in the neck and back was considerably reduced. And there was a remarkable improvement in the overall health and quality of life of the patient.

What are varicose veins?

Varicose veins are swollen, twisted veins that you can see just under the skin. They usually occur in legs but can also form in other parts of the body.

What causes them?

Varicose veins occur when the walls of your veins weaken. As the blood pressure in your veins increases, the weakened walls allow your veins to get bigger. As your veins stretch, the valves that keep blood moving in one direction in your veins can’t work like they should. Sluggish blood backs up or pools in your veins, causing your veins to swell, bulge and twist.

Vein walls and valves can become weaker for several reasons, including:

  • Hormones
  • Aging
  • Excess weight
  • Restrictive clothing
  • Pressure inside the vein from standing up for long periods of time

How to prevent or manage them?

  • Consume food rich in flavonoids, high in potassium and fibre
  • Wear non-restrictive clothing
  • Keep your legs elevated
  • Massage your legs
