Naturopathy’s Recommended Diet For The Monsoon

July 3, 2026

When the monsoon begins, these are our major health concerns:

  • Increased chances of communicable diseases due to lowered vitality
  • Increased energy demand by the body which leads to excess food intake and craving

Naturopathy-recommended diet for better immunity and vitality

The diet should contain vitamin C, antioxidants, and fibres, especially soluble fibres as this is more important. These are mainly found in seasonal fruits such as papayas, pomegranates, cherries, pears, apples, jackfruits, lemons, oranges, and mosambi. These citrus fruits contain plenty of vitamin C and fibres that boost your immunity and develop better gut bacteria.

For vegetables, gourds like bottle gourd, bitter gourd, ash gourd, ridge gourd, and snake gourd are recommended for the monsoons. Seasonal vegetables like cucumbers, tomatoes, beans, okra, and radish, are alkaline in nature and will improve your immunity.

The most important fruits and vegetables are:

Broccoli

Broccoli is a rich source of vitamin C, E, and K. It has fibre and minerals such as calcium, potassium, and magnesium. These help to improve digestion and immunity.

Oranges

This citrus fruit contains plenty of ascorbic acid or vitamin C. It will improve your immunity by increasing the production of White Blood Cells. This fruit also contains nutrients like calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and magnesium, which enhance your overall health.

Pomegranates

Eating the fruit or drinking the juice boosts your immunity, helps the body fight chronic diseases, lowers high blood pressure, improves digestion, and enhances skin care. It contains vitamin B12, C, A & E which have anti-viral and antioxidant properties.

Beetroot

Beetroots help lower high blood pressure, prevent anaemia, strengthen your immune system, and reduce inflammation, while helping your body fight infections.

Naturopathy-recommended diet to prevent excess food intake and cravings

  • Include fat-rich fruits like avocados, nuts, and seeds in your breakfast.
  • Reduce your intake of refined carbs
  • Whenever you feel hungry or have cravings, choose healthy snacks made of dehydrated vegetables, or millet-based snacks and nuts.
  • Use healthy oils such as coconut, olive, etc. for salad dressings, as this gives you a higher satiety feeling
